CBG (cannabigerol) is one of more than a hundred phytocannabinoids found in hemp. Compounds called cannabinoids, along with basic terpenes and flavonoids, make up the chemical structure of hemp.
CBG can help balance the effects of THC and other cannabinoids. The 'activated' version of CBG is CBGA, which is also a precursor of the cannabinoid CBD, THC, CBN, CBC (a compound that is involved in a reaction to produce another compound).
CBGA is considered a strain molecule that exists only in raw hemp plants. In this case, THC and CBD are sacrificed in order to maximise the amount of CBG produced. Another way to increase CBG yield is to cross varieties and optimise them.
